’08 Otis Kenyon Merlot

After finding a bargain ’08 Syrah from this producer that was a definite miss I wanted to give them another shot because, frankly, Walla Walla produces great Merlot.

Thankfully this was a good buy. Flint and herbaceous notes dominate but on the palate they settle into the background with blackberry and cocoa taking the lead.

With medium acidity and tannin this is quite drinkable although I would hesitate to drink this young. Glad it had some bottle age.

And if nothing else it has a really cool label!
