I am a Chenin fiend lately. So this might be biased. Sue me.
This is the Chenin for California Chardonnay lovers who want to, um, become worldly. Full bodied, with toffee and pineapple aromas, this has some serious oak on it, but it is integrated well enough to not be overbearing. On the palate, lemon-lime and breakfast pastry – you know that oily, creamy goodness? – really make this a treat. Rich and lengthy, this could lay down for years yet should the acidity hold (there isn’t a wealth of it to begin with).
Try it when you would usually pair a California Chardonnay – same price point even!
