’06 Chateau Lassegue St. Emilion Grand Cru

Rarely am I disappointed in trying new wines, you expect some atypical results, but I will keep this post brief as I definitely was in this case. Sure, I knew the year going in wasn’t a great one. In fact Jancis Robinson has an article dedicated to it, click here to have a peek.

Either this is in the infamous Bordeaux “shut down” phase in it’s life that can happen around years 9-12 or it simply is an example of the harsh year for Bordeaux: muffled bouquet, astringent acidity, and a distinct lack of tertiary development. Barely any fruit even. Too bad. Perhaps another try down the road – suppose they can’t all be winners.
