’14 Chapoutier “Belleruche” Cote Du Rhone

Cote du Rhone reds are, generally speaking,   blends of Grenache (aka Garnacha in Spain) and Syrah (aka Shiraz in Aussie land and some other new world countries). With a subdued red fruit nose this gives way to candied cherry, good acidity, some mild spice and freshness on the palate.

I would guess it has a higher amount of the Grenache (being a lighter bodied grape) as it certainly struck me as closer to a Pinot Noir in its weight.

The finish was also fresh if not full bodied. Decent value at $20-25.

Try this if you like: rich red fruit, freshness
